Introduction

Thank you for using Online Tax Australia. Please read the process below to better understand how the system works or contact our help desk to discuss any questions. Please note that onece you start you can log-out and save your file at any time and come back to it at a future time. Once you have an account open we can access it remotely, discuss any questions and even help you load the information.

Interview Section

Once you click on the 'Get Started' icon you will asked a question regarding your occupation. Please choose an occupation that best suits your role or one that is close.

This will be followed by a set of simple yes/no questions that allow us to narrow down the tax return form to the sections that are only relevant to you. These questions will also help identify deductions that may be specific to your situation and occupation.

Create an Account

At the end of the Interview section, you will be asked to create an account. It is here that you load your email address and secure password. Once the account has been set up you can either continue your return or use the "Logout and Save Return" button at the top right corner of each form and come back at any time to comnplete your return. We do not require you to fill in your personal details such as tax file number, home address etc until well into your tax return.

Income Tax Return Worksheets

Based on your responses to the interview questions the system will lead you through the appropriate worksheets applicable to your specific requirements. For example if your answer 'yes' to using your motor vehicle for work purposes, then the motor vehicle worksheet will be loaded for you to complete. These worksheets are easy to complete and if you have any questions you can always contact our help desk. If you answer 'no' to the motor vehicle question then the worksheet will not appear as it will not be required.

Change, Add or Delete Information

At the end of each section there is a Summary Page with an edit/delete/add function next to every entry that you have made. Click on these to take you back to that form to make changes.

Check your refund

The "Check Your Assessment" button is located at the top of each form. Click on this at any time to check your estimated Tax Refund or Tax Payable.

Click on the "Help" button at the top of the screen for more Information, or enter a question or keyword in the "Search" field.
